Compact food court fit-out
In late 2024, Regiment Workshop provided shopfitting services for Harajuku Sushi, a takeaway Japanese food outlet in the food court of Rouse Hill Town Centre, in north-western Sydney. The project objective was to deliver a functional and visually distinct space within a high-traffic shopping centre environment.
Design approach and visual elements
The design for Harajuku Sushi incorporated elements referencing traditional Japanese aesthetics within a modern context. Key visual components include prominent overhead signage displaying clear branding and a structured canopy resembling traditional zen roof tiles. These features contribute to the outlet’s distinct presence within the food court setting.
Functional displays and construction details
The fit-out accommodates for attractive food displaying and efficient service. A feature of the design is the chilled glass display cases, engineered for the presentation of fresh sushi rolls. Backlit panels provide a contemporary finish while illuminating the food. The rear wall features vertical timber joinery and offers a stylish textural contrast to the operational section of Harajuku Sushi.
Joinery and operational integration
The project’s joinery work supported both aesthetic and operational requirements. Integrated menu boards clearly present the Japanese cuisine available. The counter façade incorporates a series of vertically arranged, blue LED light strips set behind a perforated metal screen. Overlaid onto this illuminated background are custom neon Japanese letters. This combination of layered materials and lighting techniques creates a dynamic and modern appearance, designed to attract attention to Harakuju Sushi.
Project journey and coordination
Regiment Workshop’s commercial shopfitting team ensured that all stakeholders, including Rouse Hill Town Centre’s retail management team, were kept in timely communication.
